I had to share this. It happens too often and I finally had to say something. I did a free inspection today for a nice young lady whose purpose was to see if an insurance claim should be filed with State Farm. She also let me know that the roof was just inspected by another roofer recently who recommended full replacement immediately or the “walls might fall in.” The roof I’m talking about is above. It was in great shape. Not perfect but outstanding for being 27 years old. I made a few recommendations to her about how to extend the life of the roof even further and recommended cleaning the gutters out. But having an old roof and a good policy with a good provider does not mean a roof should be replaced. As it turns out, her grandpa installed the roof himself in 1994 and we both appreciated his handy work together. Please, Please, Please work with a contractor that you can trust to “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” instead of automatically recommending that you file a claim. Not to brag but… she received free advice from me, a free high quality inspection report, peace of mind that her Aunt and Uncle’s house has a solid roof on it, and she received verification that her grandpa was just as handy as he said he was. I’ll call that a win.
